As I am completing my time in Cohort 97 of The Honor Foundation, I am truly leaving a different person than I was just three months ago. I began my transition journey seeking programs and tools to help me along the way and The Honor Foundation came highly recommended from everyone I spoke to. Now at the end of the program, the tools and impact The Honor Foundation have provided has truly exceeded my expectations. Not only did I not know what I wanted to do post-military, I felt like I did not have valuable skills that translated into civilian industries. Despite a successful 20 year career in elite special operations units, I assumed I was destined to a job as a shooting or tactical instructor, utilizing the hard skills I knew I excelled at. Through THF’s effective and proven methodology, I was able to extract and realize the skills that truly set me apart from others; the skills and attributes that are highly sought after in the civilian workforce. Not only did they help me realize my value, THF facilitates individual growth and awareness to help you internalize these traits and talk favorably about yourself to strangers and/or future employers. As a “silent professional” this was very much an awkward and foreign experience placing me way outside of my comfort zone, but as we approach the end, I find these engagements exciting and am I am constantly looking forward to my next connection. The THF staff, coaches, business partners, and curriculum are solely focused on every Fellow’s individual success. I am leaving THF with countless tools, network connections, education, and exposure to industries but the one thing I am taking away above all others is confidence. Confidence that I am going to leave the military and find successful, meaningful employment that aligns with my “WHY” and my values.
