04 DOSIER:

Sean Carano, Director of Programs- Camp Lejeune

Name: Sean Carano

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in northeast OH, just outside of Cleveland.
After high school, I attended The Ohio State University before joining the Marine Corps.

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
While preparing to retire from Active Duty I was midway through my Skillbridge internship when I realized something didn’t feel right. The company was great and the people were amazing, but as time went on I realized that it just wasn’t the right “fit.” Luckily, I had been through The Honor Foundation and I felt confident enough to pivot – I transitioned in the middle of Transition and joined the THF Tribe. I’m grateful for the opportunity and couldn’t be happier. My current role with THF aligns with my top priorities to “Be Dad” and continue to make an impact in my community!

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
People will usually tell you to do exactly what worked for them. I’ve found that I’m better off when able to define “success” for myself, based on my own circumstances, and then pursue my goals as aggressively as possible.

Your Personal Why?
To focus on what’s most important so that we can all become the best version of ourselves.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
During transition, you have a lot of information coming at you from a lot of different sources. Everyone you ask will gladly give you their opinion of what you should do next. For the most part, everything is new and it can be overwhelming. I believe I have the ability to help others filter out the “noise” and focus on what truly matters. My ability to simplify the complex and create actionable plans helps others get from where they are to where they want to be.

Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
I have had the privilege of serving within the Special Operations community for more than half of my career. Special Operators are the most professional, dedicated, intelligent, creative, and resilient people I have ever known. I’m privileged to have served alongside them and look forward to continuing to serve them with Honor, for life.

Favorite THF Value, and why?
Exemplify Trust – It’s amazing how small the Special Operations community truly is. Your reputation ALWAYS precedes you, and trust is the only currency that matters. You have to earn it everyday, but when you do, you can accomplish the seemingly impossible!
