Jeffrey Wright, Vice President of Strategic Engagement
Name: Jeffrey W. Wright
Where were you born and raised?
Born in Lawton, OK. Raised in a military family and traveled around quite a bit. Moved to NC with my wife in ’87 and other than a few short assignments have called NC home.
What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
In the spring of 2017, I transitioned out of Special Operations after 33 years on active duty. I have been privileged to build enduring relationships with exceptional, high performing leaders and teammates whose guidance and mentorship continue to shape my professional journey. These men and women of uncompromising character instilled in me a strong moral foundation and a purpose-driven ethos that sustained me through professional adversity and personal trials. Their influence was instrumental in my successful transition from the military to the private sector and continues to inform how I lead, serve, and perform.
Through THF, I’ve gained powerful tools and profound insights for bridging the “transition gap.” Inspired by what I’ve learned, I am driven to make it my personal mission to share these transformative experiences and invaluable THF processes with every SOF warrior and his/her family navigating their own transition journey.
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Adopt a growth mindset and stay adaptable. Let change fuel you and then turn it into opportunities.
Your Personal Why:
Inspire others to define their purpose, pursue it with passion, and build meaningful relationships along the way.
How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
While members of the Special Operations Community serve with a strong sense of purpose, transitioning to the private sector requires translating highly specialized experience into clear, compelling value for potential employers. THF delivers that impact—equipping SOF members and their spouses with the tools, language, and confidence to succeed in civilian careers. After eight years of close affiliation, I’ve seen the measurable difference THF makes, and it stands unequivocally as the premier transition resource for the SOF community.
Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
I served in The US Army Special Forces for over 28 years.
Favorite THF Value, and why?
Exemplify Trust and a close second is Creating Experiences. Developing trust and creating meaningful experiences with others is fundamental to forming relationships that endure and make a genuine impact. These relationships extend far beyond simple employment opportunities; they play a crucial role in helping individuals become better teammates, mentors, and human beings…something the world could use a little more of.
