04 DOSIER:

Bill White, Director of Programs- Eglin

Name:  Bill White

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in northern Illinois.

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
I faced my biggest transition when I ended my military service after spending my entire adult life in special operations. Initially, I wanted nothing to do with the military after I retired and basically focused all my energy and efforts on my faith and family. After much reconciliation and prayer, I’ve realized my military service will always be an important part of my life but it does not define who I am. Throughout this journey I’ve been able to reconnect with former teammates and rediscover my true passion for helping people.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
To prioritize the things that matter most. Save some of your A-game for your family; don’t leave it all at work.

Your Personal Why?
To serve others and count them more significant than myself.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
My greatest fulfillment as a career SOF operator was helping others attain their goals. I’m grateful to continue this work at THF and assist teammates as they navigate their transition from military service.

Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
I served over 32 years in the Air Force as a Combat Controller and Special Tactics officer. I had the privilege of working alongside every branch of SOF so I’m very familiar with their expertise and capabilities. Although the “target” has changed, I feel very blessed to continue working with the SOF community through THF.

Favorite THF Value, and why?
My favorite THF value is – Be You. Genuine leaders are authentic and not afraid to be bold about what they value and believe.

Area/Industry of expertise:
Leadership and mentorship. Coaching, listening, and problem solving.
