Amy Miles, Program Coordinator- TN | Fort Campbell
Name: Amy Miles
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in central Illinois and was raised in the Houston area.
What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
The biggest transition of my life was my breast cancer journey. As a woman, a mother, and a military spouse, I had spent years caring for everyone else while putting my own needs last. Slowing down and prioritizing my health was not something I knew how to do, it was something I had to learn. Cancer forced me to stop, to listen to my body, and to recognize that caring for myself was not selfish, but necessary. That transition reshaped how I view my worth, my time, and my purpose.
What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Do not let other people dictate your worth, continue being your genuine authentic self because you are enough. Your value is not measured by external validation. Embrace your true values, strengths, and don’t try to fit into someone else’s expectation of what you should or should not be. Each of us possess inherent value and we do not need external approval to be worthy of love and respect.
Your personal Why?
My “Why” is deeply connected to my cancer journey. While serving as a volunteer leader for a congressionally funded program supporting Special Operations Forces (SOF) spouses, I was diagnosed. I had been operating at breakneck speed when I suddenly hit a brick wall, one that forced me into a pause I never would have chosen on my own. During treatment, I discovered that continuing to care for SOF families gave me purpose. Even on the hardest days, contributing in any capacity reminded me that I was still serving. That sense of service gave me a reason to get out of bed, to push forward, and to believe I was still here for something bigger than myself. I knew I was not done serving and that knowledge carried me through, and became my Why.
How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
I am still here, and it is both an honor and a privilege to continue serving the SOF community through The Honor Foundation. THF represents purpose-driven service, integrity, and care for those who have given so much. Being part of this ecosystem allows me to continue serving in a meaningful way, supporting individuals and families who embody commitment, sacrifice, and resilience.
Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
My grandfather served in the Navy during World War II, and my father served in the Air Force during Vietnam. My husband of nearly 35 years retired from 5th Special Forces Group (A), serving the majority of his 31-year career within the SOF community. Through him and through decades immersed in SOF life, I have witnessed firsthand the quiet strength, humility, and sacrifice that define Special Operators and their families.
Favorite THF Value, and why?
It is a tie between “Be You” and “Fierce Empathy.” Both values are deeply ingrained in who I am. I believe in showing up authentically and refusing to compromise my values, while also leading with empathy and compassion. Being true to myself while genuinely understanding and supporting others is not just what I do, it’s who I am.
Area/Industry of expertise:
My expertise has been shaped by years of experience in office management, SOF family programs, and lived SOF life. Together, these experiences have given me a strong foundation in organizational support, community leadership, and mission-driven service.
