Charles Room, Director of Impact- Texas

Name:  Charles Room

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Southern California and spent much of my life serving and leading in communities across the United States through my military career. Today, I call Texas home and am proud to be part of the vibrant Veteran community here.

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
The biggest transition of my life was moving from military service after more than 28 years into the civilian sector. Like many veterans, my identity, purpose, and community were deeply connected to my service. Navigating that transition required me to rediscover who I was beyond the uniform, embrace new opportunities, and learn how to translate my experience into a completely different environment. That journey ultimately reinforced my passion for helping others successfully navigate their own transitions.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Some of the greatest opportunities, lessons, and relationships in my life came from being willing to learn from others and recognizing that success is never a solo endeavor.

Your Personal Why?
My personal why is helping others realize their potential and successfully navigate life’s transitions. I am passionate about serving people, developing leaders, and creating opportunities that allow individuals to achieve more than they thought possible.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
THF’s mission aligns directly with my personal why. As a THF alumnus, I experienced firsthand the value of coaching, community, and support during transition. Being part of the THF ecosystem allows me to give back to an organization that had a meaningful impact on my own journey while helping future Fellows author their next chapter with confidence and purpose.

Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
As a former member of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and a veteran of more than 28 years of military service, I have tremendous respect for the dedication, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by Special Operations service members and their families. Having served alongside these extraordinary men and women, I understand both the sacrifices they make and the unique challenges they face during transition.

Favorite THF Value, and why?
Commitment. Commitment is the foundation of everything meaningful in life. It drives excellence, builds trust, and sustains perseverance through challenges. I believe commitment is what enables individuals and organizations to fulfill their purpose, and it is a value that has guided me throughout my military, professional, and personal journey.
