Anna Silverman, Program Coordinator- Fort Bragg

Name: Anna Silverman

Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL.

What’s a short story around the biggest transition you’ve faced in life?
I had no illusion that the transition from the suburbs of Chicago to a South Georgia military town would be an easy one. But when my now-husband had to leave two weeks after I arrived for a no-notice deployment, I found myself in a situation I was not prepared for. I was in an unfamiliar environment with no close friend network, still looking for a job, and the person who was supposed to be my guide had just called me from a satellite phone telling me to expect for him to be gone for several months. Initially, I felt that the safe and logical move was to head back home to my support network. Now, eleven deployments, two children, and an amazing network of special operations families and friends later, I am so thankful I decided not to make the “safe and logical” choice.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give a younger you?
Go for it! Stop letting yourself get in your own way.

Your Personal Why?
I believe having a purpose that drives you is one of the most essential elements of what make us uniquely human. I continually search for things I can devote myself to that help the people and community around me.

How does your Why drive you to be a part of the THF Ecosystem?
I can think of no purpose I would rather commit myself to than to an organization that assists the veteran community who have devoted decades of their lives and so much more to the cause of keeping our nation safe.

Military Connection or Why do you respect Special Operators?
I’ve been a SOF military spouse for 10 years.
